Cake batter rice krispies treats

But seriously, who doesn’t? And when you combine rice krispies treats, sprinkles and just a hint of cake batter, you get the most deliciously amazing dessert, and will be the envy of all your friends.

Believe me, I know this from experience.

I’m not the first to make these, by any means. I got the recipe from How sweet it is, and it looked too perfect to adapt so I left it as is!

You will need:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 10-ounce bag of mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup yellow cake mix
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 1 1.75-ounce container of sprinkles

Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, and then add the marshmallows. It might seem like you’re adding a lot, but they lose most of their fluffiness when they melt.

Once the marshmallows have melted, start adding the cake mix. Stir until combined.

Bit by bit, start stirring in the rice krispies. It gets difficult to stir, but don’t give up! You’re so close!

Stir in half of the sprinkles.

Press into a baking dish (for best results, use wax paper and a Mickey hand oven mitt) and top with remaining sprinkles. And, if you’re feeling adventurous, throw an extra container of dinosaur sprinkles on top.

Wait half an hour, and then cut!

There was just enough cake batter to give it a little extra sweetness, but not to overpower it with cake flavor.

Now Sarah, could you please break down the types of sprinkles available and what the pros and cons of each are?
