Oh blog, I've missed you so. I've been a negligent poster for the past month, because I've been frantically working to get my book finalized and available on Amazon.
And guess what?
I did it
I, Sarah West (I decided to shorten it, as German-sounding names don't really work for Romance novels), am a published author! So far the feedback from my readers has been extremely positive, and I'm so thrilled that this labor of love is finally available for everyone to read!
Passion's Tide (I know...I can't say the name with a straight face either) is a swashbuckling adventure romance that takes place during the golden age of piracy. The protagonist, Amber, is a feisty, strong-willed woman who finds herself captured by the handsome (obviously!) pirate captain, Logan.
Unwilling to let herself be a quiet prisoner, Amber fights back, and the story turns into a battle of wits and intense desire on a journey across the Atlantic ocean.
As a writer, I find myself equally drawn to sexy romances and Indiana Jones style adventures, so I made sure that my story had a great deal of both. There's rogue pirates, drunken antics, sword fights, looting, plans gone awry, and a great deal of...well, romance. If you know what I mean.
I started this book in the summer of 2007, and finished writing it in 2011. I then spent a year and a half reviewing and editing and rewriting it, so that it became a cohesive story. A lot of time also went into making it sound like it wasn't written over four years, as my writing improved drastically over such a long period of time.
But when I look at my final copy, I'm so proud of myself. Writing a full-length novel takes an INCREDIBLE amount of time, patience, and energy, as well as a lot of research and fact checking. But I did it! **happy dance**
Here is the link to the Amazon page, where you can purchase your very own copy (and copies for everyone you know!) for the low low price of $2.99!!! It's only available as an ebook for now, but if you don't have a kindle, don't worry. Amazon has a million options for people to read ebooks on your computers or phones.
And if you find yourself enjoying my book, please do me a favor and like it or review it on Amazon. The more people who review it, the more likely I am to become a billionaire author with a book deal. Hell, if you like it, link to it from your blogs, facebooks, email everyone you know! I'll never say no to some free publicity.
And because this is a Food blog, I had to include a recipe, didn't I?
I present Pirate's Booty.
Aka white trash. Aka puppy chow.
A recipe that is crazy simple to make (5 minutes!), makes a lot (9 cups!), and tastes awesome? This is one you can't miss.
You will need:
- 9 cups of chex cereal (any variety)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter OR biscoff OR nutella spread.
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Melt the butter, chocolate, and biscoff/peanut butter/nutella in the microwave on high for 1 minute or more, until it can be stirred smooth. Add in vanilla. In a large bowl, pour the mixture over the chex cereal, and stir (I used my hands so that I wouldn't break too many of them) until nice and evenly coated.
Then dump everything into a big plastic bag and add powdered sugar. Do a fun dance around your kitchen to shake everything up, and you're done!
Serving suggestion: pour it into jars (with lids),and cover using fabric or cupcake liners. Tie off with fun ribbon, and present them as gifts!
Well folks, that's it for today. While you are snuggled up with a great book, I will be picking sand out of my jewelry and cleaning up from my massive photoshoot. I have some awesome recipes planned for the next few weeks, and I'm excited to get back into the kitchen!!!
