With the budget of a 25 year old who has a moderately successful entry level job with a solid paycheck, who can afford to buy all the candy she wants.
And I have no shame in going to see kid’s movies on a Friday night, when other people my age are out partying or clubbing or whatever normal people do.
So on Friday night I went to go see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2…and it was awesome.
I wanted to make a delightful meal with my new friend Kate (that’s right…I have two friends now, not including Kevin. And my cat. All together, that’s like four friends!), and I decided to concoct a drink for everyone’s favorite talking monkey:
- Raspberry vodka
- peach shnapps
- sweet and sour mix
- lemon-lime soda
Now, as with any of my drink recipes (and most of my food ones, too), I don’t really measure. I just pour sort of equal amounts into a cocktail shaker, taste it, and adjust if needed. But if you’re curious, the winner of the 2009 world bartending championship used these amounts:
- 1/2 oz raspberry vodka
- 1/2 oz peach shnapps
- 1 oz sweet and sour mix
- splash of soda
Unlike other recipes that use colored alcohols, this one produces a mostly clear drink (if you can find clear sweet and sour mix). Even if it comes out a little yellowish, it’s still clear enough to see the yummy pile of tasty gummy bears, stuck at the bottom of the glass.
Waiting their turn to get eaten.
