But that doesn't make them any less stressful. Why not turn to everybody's favorite, socially acceptable way to cope with twenty relatives crammed into your small house?
It's a rite of passage when you turn 21, or perhaps even a little younger, if you had a really cool uncle to slip you drinks when your mom wasn't looking. So here's a quick, festive recipe that isn't too girly or fruity, but really dresses up the gin for the holidays. And your uncle is going to love it. (I'm looking at you, Uncle Mark!)
- 1 (2-inch) orange rind strip
- 1 tablespoon fresh cranberries
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 3 tablespoons gin
- 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup tonic water
Pour into a tumbler, add a few more cranberries, and garnish with the orange rind.
It'll turn out a lovely orangey-pink color, depending on how you adjust the juice ratio. I'm not the biggest gin fan, so I added a touch more sugar, and a squeeze of lime juice really makes a difference.
Thanks to Beth, my certified besty, for coming over, gifting me the incredibly cute cocktail shaker, and then posing with her Christmas manicure for my photos 🙂
